Five Elements Birth Services is proud to host Jill Thompson with Tharseo Counselling for an informative workshop on diversity and inclusivity.

“Empathy is the capacity to think and feel oneself into the inner life of another person.” - Heinz Kohut

This half-day workshop will introduce you to the barriers that LGBTQI2S+ folks experience when navigating the health care system, with a focus on perinatal care.

You will learn about:

  • definitions of gender and sexual diversity

  • inclusive language and why it matters

  • the realities many folks face when trying to access inclusive care providers and services

  • how you as a doula and birth worker may better support your LGBTQI2S clients with local resources

If you are a birth or postpartum doula, birth or newborn photographer, childbirth educator, offer lactation support, encapsulate placentas, are an L&D nurse, OB/GYN, or midwife, or otherwise work in the field of pregnancy, birth, or postpartum care, this workshop will be of benefit to you and your clients.

Three (3) DONA International contact hours will be awarded for completing this workshop.
